Pedal Powered Percussion at Vancouver Mini Maker Faire 2014 |
If you're not familiar with it, the VMMF is a collaborative & community-driven celebration of do-it-yourselfing. It was founded in 2011 by makers like the people at Vancouver Hack Space (VHS), who had a strong desire to share ideas, learn from others, & celebrate the act of making. The Mini part of the name does not necessarily mean small--it’s simply the term used to differentiate it from the World Maker Faires that involve Makers from a wide geographical area--VMMF is all about the local.
When you attend Maker faires you meet tech enthusiasts, crafters, homesteaders, scientists, & garage tinkerers of all ages & backgrounds. The maker community is expanding, diverse, & inclusive. VMMF welcomes a broad range of ideas & projects – everything from collaborative & fun on-site activities like cardboard box making, to feats of engineering, robotics & crafting. It’s a great event to bring kids to, all about experimenting, playing & sharing in order to have fun, learn, & discover new possibilities.
This year's Vancouver Mini Maker Faire promises to be even better than last year with a Cardboard City, the Lego Lounge, a Textile Village & expanded Dark Matter Zone. You'll also see robotic dogs, homegrown drones, hand-sewn quilts, a spin art t-shirt making bike, & interactive art installations at the 5th annual Vancouver Mini Maker Faire this June 6th & 7th.
Now that you are all excited about going to Vancouver Mini Maker Faire, here's your chance to win a family pack of tickets ($47 value)! So up to five people, maximum of two 19+, can go to VMMF for free! You've got a few ways to enter in the Rafflecopter form below--do as many as possible for the best chance to win. A mess? hehe, kidding, but I have some furniture that I have been re-purposing lately. I made a neat little 'wardrobe' for DD out of a bookshelf.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I've seen so many projects like that on Pinterest. Need to make one myself soon, I think. :)
DeleteI made my very first wire wrap! You can see it here: https://instagram.com/p/2SPNlimxwY/?taken-by=icitea
ReplyDeleteWell done--looks great!
DeleteI learned a new pattern for knitting this year. I taught myself to knit last year and handmade scarves for most everyone for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteSweet! I crocheted a bunch for everyone, but that was BC (Before Children).
DeleteI made myself a scrapbook with all the pictures I've been procrastinating about forever!
ReplyDeleteWell done! I have about four years worth to catch up on myself...

ReplyDeleteOh man... normally I make things fairly regularly but I can't remember the last thing I made myself... besides dinner...
ReplyDeleteUmm... doesn't making photos count? ;)
DeleteI made playdoe recently
ReplyDeleteFun!
DeleteI finished a lovely doll quilt for a 3 yo bday present a few weeks ago. I'm glad I saw your post on FAB. We actually will be home that weekend and will definitely be taking the girls. A friend blogged about it last year and I was a little jealous that there is nothing like that where we live now. Oh how I miss the big city.
ReplyDeleteHomemade birthday presents are the best! Maybe we'll see you at Maker Faire?
DeleteI made a diy banner for the wall :)
ReplyDeleteNice!
