So, in no particular order, with our favourite online versions of each, here are 10 Songs Sprout Sings:
1. Alle Meine Entchen (All My Little Ducklings) is one of the few songs I can sing in German.
2. Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star was the first song Sprout learned to sing & the only one he knows all the words for at this point.
3. Hush Little Baby (aka Mama's Gonna Buy You a Mockingbird). I love this version of it, though the words are different from the one I tend to sing to him at night.
4. The Wheels on the Bus. This one isn't actually Raffi singing, but I love the very French illustrations.
5. En Haut, En Bas is one of the songs we sing on the change table.
6. Full of Beans. Sprout asks to watch this video nearly every day.
7. Hurry, Hurry Drive the Firetruck
8. Hoppe Reiter (Hopping Rider) is a traditional German's nursery rhyme
9. Ladybug Sprout learned this one at the Mount Pleasant Family Centre, where they play it at the end of song time every day.
Why Monday lists? Reading the lovely Chloe's blog, Tea Swamp Park, I found an idea I had to 'steal': a list of all her Halloween costumes, with quite a few photos. She got the idea from Hula Seventy's List Project. I've decided to do the weekly lists for a year that Hula Seventy is doing.
Tea Swamp Park & Hula Seventy are not the only ones doing lists, however. Click on the Listicles badge to the left to check out NorthWestMommy's list & 'assignment' for next week.
Great list! I have a 3 year old and only know a couple of those songs, so I'm going to have to up my game and expand my children's tunes vocabulary. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute spin on the topic and very cool it's multi lingual
ReplyDeleteSweet list. Takes me back in time before my kids were enamored with the likes of One Direction. Ellen
ReplyDeletecute take on the topic.

ReplyDeleteBobby McFarrin is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI too really liked that very of hush little baby...it is now saved on my youtube list. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteClever you! I love Raffi. I don't hear him around here anymore :(
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I've noted many of these songs, as I'm unfamiliar with many of them. They would be great songs to sing to my little one. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the direction you went with this one. Since I don't have kids (yet) I only know a few of them, but I can only imagine your son singing them. I will have to learn some of these to sing to my niece when we visit! Especially the Ladybug one.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to show Lil Duck the beans one! I haven't seen that before and she will LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteLove this! Octopus is my favorite! Have you heard Steve Weeks? My sons still loves his songs and they are real tongue twisters so great for speech development!
ReplyDeleteThank You! Been looking for new songs for the 2 year old!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be singing with my son's kindergarten class each week, and I need more songs that don't require reading. Will check some of these out.
ReplyDeleteTake 2. Great list! I grew up with Charlotte Diamond's music and last year, q and I saw her perform at the local fair. He sang I am a pizza for months ( do you know that one?)
