I just checked my email to discover a message from Livejournal saying that someone had commented on my posting. I thought it might actually be spam, as I haven't used my Livejournal blog for ages & wasn't even sure it was still up. Apparently it is & someone chanced upon a posting I wrote about what I'd been reading. I checked out my archives & realized with a surprise that I've been blogging (on & off, mind you) for six years now.
It's amazing how much things have changed. I still write about some of the same things, but obviously wasn't focussed on anything baby-related back then. I have a much better sense of my audience now, after the advent of Facebook, Twitter & Google Analytics. I can see where my traffic comes from & how many hits I'm getting at any time of the day, week or month. I have no idea if my old blog even got any traffic, really. I often felt like I was just writing messages in bottles to chuck out into the ocean. I guess someone found one today...
If you're at all interested to read about my first trip to Europe & whatever else I saw fit to put out there, my blog is Blaue Libelle. For those who don't know me well, the name comes from my tattoo: I have a large dragonfly on my back & I was studying German at the time. It's become my default online ID if I don't feel like using my real name.
